Teaching English with Fun by Singing and Playing

Teaching English with Fun by Singing and Playing

Assalamu'alaikum hello everyone I'm Mr Ryu we meet here on a virtual meeting through my blog. I learnt English when I was in Junior High in grade 7. The teacher still using one of old teaching style methods and approaches one of them was GTM or Grammar Translation Method. The teacher gives some sentences to the students to be read, translate them into bahasa, explain the formula and pattern of the sentence and read the sentence together, just like that. For me as a student, that kind of method is pretty boring because it's monotonous the teacher and students do the same thing repeated over and over.

Nowadays as information technology has been so advanced, you can get much information from all over the world just with a click by using many platforms from your gadgets such as google, mozilla, firefox, youtube, etc. Many millennial young teachers now have utilized them in teaching their students by online. As we know all that in this covid-19 pandemic era most of the people's lifestyles have changed including the way of teaching. From offline teaching to online teaching because we are in a condition that force us to work from home due to the spreading out of covid-19.

Mr. Urip is as one of the teachers in Hi-5 English conversation course has been doing an interesting, fun and interactive method of teaching English conversation by using playing games, singing songs, and telling stories method to his students. It's a way of drawing students' attention so they can fully engage to the lesson and actively speaking in English with peers or teachers. By setting up a conducive atmosphere of the classroom the students will be more ready and enthusiastic to learn English and practice it. First, make them to love English. Second, make English easy and fun to learn. Third, encourage them to practice English anytime, anywhere, and with anyone who can speak English of course.

Surround Yourself by Fluent English Speakers

To speak good English, surround yourself by people who speak English fluently   Let us say that your current English speaking skills aren’t great. You aren’t very confident of being able to communicate confidently and effectively in English with anyone, be it a small group or a large one. However, you are very determined to improve your spoken English skills rapidly and prove to yourself that you can do it, while making a good impression on those around you. Taking up an  English speaking course  is obviously one way to speed up the process of learning, and an important one at that. Yet, there is another critical element that can determine the rate and extent of success in your endeavour. Just as the old English adage goes, “a man is known by the company he keeps”, your success in  improving your English skills  will depend largely on the “company” you keep. If you are around people who speak in English regularly, you have a much greater chance of improving your own speaking

Think in English

§   Do you speak with a lot of  pauses  and  hesitations? §   Do you have  difficulty   expressing your ideas  in English? §   Do you  mentally translate  from your native language to English… but the sentences come out  incorrect  or  unnatural  when you speak? If you want to eliminate these problems and become fluent in English, the secret is… Learning how to think directly in English! Many English students say: §   “It’s too difficult! §   “I don’t know enough English words!” §   “I need to think in my native language and translate.” The problem with thinking in your native language and translating is that it results in sentences that  are not correct  in English, because the grammar and sentence structure is often different in English and your native language. Also, it  takes too much time  to think and translate when you’re in a conversation – leading to pauses, hesitations, and the inability to speak fast and fluently. Many students believe that thinking
